Captain, United States Navy (Retired)

President's Bio

David H. Krieger
President, 638 NBT, Inc.

David Krieger is a retired Captain of the United States Navy, where he served for over 29 years. Following active duty, David served as a Numismatist for approximately twenty years, with experience in both the wholesale and retail rare coin and bullion markets.

In 1997, David opened GoldCoinSuperSite.com during the insanity of the "Dot Com" years.  The money wasn't worth the intensity, so David switched to wholesale precious metals trading before serving as Director of a state-of-the-art precious metals depository in Wilmington, Delaware.  In 2009, David incorporated Hobson NBT, to provide rare coins and precious metals to various radio broadcasters.

After nearly 30 spectacular years of service to our Nation and an additional 20 years in precious metals, David made his decision to shift to a different gear, retire from paid work and inactivate Hobson NBT.

At his "transition dinner," David shared "...What a great experience the gold and silver business provided!  What an honor to serve in the Submarine Force and command a first-class warship!  So many great memories of serving with the best; visiting so many unique and historic places throughout the Mediterranean and Orient; living in and enjoying ten major American cities, plus Japan and the Philippines; learning the precious metals business from the very best, including my good friends Don K and Rob W.  But it was time...and, now, it's 'on to the next challenge!'  Keep tuned! "

Hobson NBT may have been inactivated, but another opportunity soon came up and to meet it, David formed his present company 638 NBT, Inc.  What a great adventure!

David is a Life Member of the Naval Submarine League; Life Member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA); and a Patriot Life Member (Patron Level) of the National Rifle Association (NRA).  David is a Life Member of Florida United Numismatists ("FUN") and the National Silver Dollar Roundtable (NSDR).  He is a past member of the Industry Council on Tangible Assets (ICTA) which is an excellent advocate organization for precious metals matters.  David is also a  Life Member of Harley-Davidson's "Harley Owners Group" ("H.O.G."), a H.O.G. Road Captain and a long-time member of The Patriot Guard, frequently participating with both groups on his 2021 Harley-Davidson "Road Glide." David is also a long-time member of Tampa's Exciting Idlewild Baptist Church and has led a popular men's Bible study for the past 15 years.

David earned his bachelor's degree in economics and graduated from the Defense Intelligence School Post Graduate Course, Washington, DC, and the Naval War College, Senior Course, in Newport, Rhode Island.  David earned a Master of Science in Management and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies.  David was competitively selected for and completed the Program for Senior Officials in National Security at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

While on active duty, Captain Krieger served in several key assignments including as Executive Officer (2nd in command) of a submarine and Captain of the heavy ammunition ship USS FLINT (AE 32).  Captain Krieger also served with distinction as Chief of Staff for Commander, Naval Surface Group Western Pacific; and as Commanding Officer, U.S. Naval Station, Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines (Subic's last American Commanding Officer.)
